🤘 2 Weeks Until Band Camp!

This week’s newsletter contains a lot of band camp specific information to help you prepare. Please read all the information so you will be up to date on all the details. If you have questions, please reach out to lanierbandhelp@gmail.com.

📣 The Countdown is On

"We are exactly two weeks away from our first official day of Band Camp! This is our most critical time of the year, where we build our culture, learn our show music, and set our field drill. To hit the ground running on Day One, students need to start preparing now by hydrating, getting outside in the heat, and practicing their music. Read below for everything you need to do to get ready!"

🚨 CRITICAL: Rank One Physical Forms Due!

Students will not be allowed on the field for Day One of camp without completed medical clearance. 90% of our Marchers still need to complete this BEFORE band camp! Parents, you must log into Rank One and complete all digital paperwork and upload your student's current physical form ASAP. No exceptions can be made due to GCPS safety policies.

Returning Marchers, you must update the year in RankOne to the 2026-2027 School Year to upload your forms.

A copy of the physical form is attached for your convenience. Once complete, it should be uploaded into RankOne along with signatures and health insurance information.

👉Directions to complete RankOne upload are as follows:

  • To sign consents and upload the physicals, visit www.rankone.com/content/ or by visiting the Athletics page on the Lanier High School website
  • If visiting Rank One, click "Parents Click Here" > Forms > Georgia > Gwinnett County Schools. Then review the instructions and click Proceed to Online Forms.
  • If visiting the Lanier High School website, scroll down the page, on the right side click the link to print the physical form.
  • Print and take this form to your doctor’s office or a clinic like Kroger's Little Clinic.
  • Once completed, you will upload the form to RankOne, including your insurance information and the school will approve and add you to the roster.

❗Coach Bernstein will be onsite at Lanier High School the evening of July 9th to assist any parent and Marcher with uploading and completing their RankOne forms. Have your completed physical form and documentation with you.

🏃‍♂️ Student Homework: How to Prep

Marchers should build these habits over the next 14 days so they do not shock their systems on Day One:

  1. Hydrate Early: Start drinking extra water now. If you wait until the first day of camp to hydrate, it is already too late.
  2. Get Outside: Spend 30–60 minutes a day walking or moving outside during the afternoon heat to acclimate your body.
  3. Break in Your Shoes: Do not wear brand-new shoes to camp. Wear the athletic sneakers you plan to use at camp this week to prevent blisters.
  4. Get Plenty of Rest: Get at least 8 hours of sleep each night so your body and mind are ready for intense practice days.
  5. Practice Your Music: Be ready on day one by practicing your music everyday.

🎒 Marchers Survival Checklist

Please double-check that your Marcher leaves the house with these items every single morning:

  • Eat a healthy, complex carb - protein filled breakfast
  • Avoid sugary drinks and snacks that cause your system to crash early
  • Bring a healthy lunch & snack
  • Water bottle (Filled with ice water)
  • Athletic shoes (No sandals, crocs, or boots)
  • Hat and sunglasses
  • Sunscreen (Apply before leaving, bring extra to reapply)
  • Flip book / Coordinate binder
  • Instruments & Gear

Review the attached Marching Band Camp Nutrition Guide for do’s and don’ts to help stay healthy and hydrated during band camp

1️⃣Day 1 of Band Camp

On day 1 of band camp a parent or guardian must accompany your Marcher inside the building for check in. This is for all Marchers, new and returning. Board members will be available to confirm your Marcher is set up in BoosterHub, Verify Rank One information has been submitted and accepted, answer any questions.

  • July 13th - All Guard, All Percussion, All Leadership
  • July 15th - Wind Players

Doors open at 8:00 AM. Please plan accordingly so your Marcher is checked in and ready to begin promptly at 9:00 AM.

🚗 Marcher Drop Off and Pick Up

Due to safety concerns we request that parents drop off and pick up their Marcher in the upper parking lot. Please see the attached map. Due to the high volume of foot traffic from our students coming on and off the practice lot and moving instruments and gear, we need to keep the band entrance clear. We also request volunteers park in the upper parking lot. The lower parking lot is reserved for staff and food drop off at meal time.
