Hello Band Fam!

It’s time for our first football game! We will play Norcross at the Ranch on Friday night, August 16, at 7:30 PM.

The game will be huge, not only because it is the first of the season, but because our head football coach, Tyler Maloof, used to coach at Norcross with their legendary coach, Keith Maloof (aka Tyler Maloof’s dad)! Coach Keith Maloof’s brother, Kevin Maloof, retired from coaching a winning team in Dacula. Keith and Kevin’s father (Tyler’s grandfather) is legendary player and coach, George Maloof, who kicked off a football dynasty!

The game has also kicked off a friendly wager between Sugar Hill Mayor, Brandon Hembree and Norcross Mayor Craig Newton.

The theme of the game night is “Orange Out” or “Lanier Cluster Night,” so wear your orange! Need spirit wear? Visit our Spirit Store!

Need a parking pass? If you have already purchased your parking pass, you can pick those up near the band door before 7 PM on Friday. If you haven’t bought one yet, but want a closer parking spot, you can purchase one in our BoosterHub store: https://lanierlonghornband.com/store/5335 .

Volunteering at the game? Cathy LaMont will have volunteer lanyards at the band door between 5:30 and 6:30. If you are working as a member of the pit crew, concessions, or chaperone, be sure you see Cathy. Lanyards will need to be returned to Cathy at the end of the night. The lanyards are your Free Ticket into the game, so do not purchase a ticket yourself. Want to volunteer? Sign up on BoosterHub!

Member of the Pit Crew? Pit Crew volunteers should try to arrive by 4:30 PM. Pit Crew will have access to parking near the band room if they work during this event.

Student uniforms for the game will consist of black shorts, black socks, band shoes, and the show shirt. Show shirts, marching shoes, and new marcher bags will be distributed on Thursday. Students are responsible for wearing their black socks and shorts. Report time is 5:30, inspections and warm ups are at 6:00 in the Commons.

During the game, students will be seated in the band section, playing stand tunes and cheering on our team. Students will perform a portion of the show during halftime. After both bands have performed and the third quarter begins, the students will have an opportunity to eat and take a break. Students must be back in the stands and ready to play again before the beginning of the fourth quarter. Thanks to the Shoe Drive Fundraiser, students will receive free home game meals at the visitor’s side concession stand. Get your family's tickets here: ttps://gofan.co/event/1510300?schoolId=GA31718

Visit our concession stand, The Stampede, any time during the game. It is located on the visitor’s side of the field, and all proceeds from this stand support the band!

After the game, students should assist in clean up and putting everything away. Plan on an additional 30-45 minutes for clean up.

We have developed a safer method to pick up the children and reduce gridlock after practices and home games. Moving forward, all marchers will be picked up at the top of the stairs in the upper parking lot. You will not be able to pick your child up near the band room. You may see cars parked down by

the band room, this is for the facility, special guests, volunteers, and approved personnel only.

We ask that you all drop off children at the appropriate location, even if you run late. When picking the marchers up after a game, please do not line up until 30 minutes after the game ends, usually around 11pm. We will have volunteers directing traffic, please follow their instructions.

We also ask that you be patient with us as this is a new method of traffic management, and we will be working out the kinks and any issues that arise at every home game. We will keep everyone apprised of changes as we fine-tune this new traffic method.

Please see the birds-eye view of the new traffic pattern. This will be enforced at every home game and every after-school practice. We understand the parking lot will be closed during the marcher’s rehearsal, so please park in the lower parking lot until the rehearsal is completed.

Have a great week! We’ll see you at The Ranch on Friday! Hook ‘Em Horns!
